An FIR Has Been Filed Against Class 12 Bihar ‘Toppers’ And Twitter Has A Lot To Say

We told you about the state of education in Bihar, that was brought to the table recently, thanks to this India Today‘s video.

An FIR has been lodged against 3 students who are apparently Bihar toppers – Sourabh Shrestha, Rahul Kumar (who are Science toppers), Ruby Rai (Arts topper), and the Director of VR College. This is regarding the irregularities in Bihar School Examination Board results.

They have been filed under sections 420, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120 (B) of IPC.

In fact, Chief Minister of Bihar Nitish Kumar held a meeting with Education minister Ashok Choudhary, Principal Secretary (Education) D S Gangwar and BSEB chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh.

It was decided that the present committee would be dissolved.

He further commented:

It was discussed that the committee constituted by the Board would have taken time and arrived on a conclusion that irregularities have been committed, which prima facie has already been established. There is no point delaying action and hence, the state government decided to go for direct action by registering an FIR and initiating action against the culprits.

After Ruby Rai referred to Political Science as “Prodigal Science” and believed it to be the science of cooking food in her own head, her blatant ignorance to this subject (in which she apparently topped) raised eyebrows and brought this issue to our attention.

And, she scored a staggering 444 out of 500 in her subject.

In fact, Ruby Rai’s grandfather has jumped to her rescue and he is supporting her ignorant stance by saying, “A child can get nervous for the first time in front of the camera”.

He further exclaimed that the media is at fault for ruining his granddaughter’s reputation!

Twitter discussed this move at length and offered their opinion regarding the same.

While lodging an FIR and investigating this matter seems plausible, we need to focus on a bigger problem – the hollowness of our education system.

We need to rectify this so that incidents like these do not occur. Because this is not the first time an incident like this has happened. Earlier, Bihar was in the news when people climbed buildings to ensure the students could cheat!

Only then, we could put an end to situations like these.
