Sidharth Malhotra Defends Filmfare Says, “It’s Not Fair To Take Names And Point Fingers.”

Filmfare Awards 2017 has been a constant newsmaker this year. A lot has been spoken about this year’s nominations and winners list. Be it Amaal Malik voicing for Randeep Hooda’s no nomination for ‘Sarbjit’, Harshvardhan Kapoor lashing out for losing to Diljit Dosanjh or Vaibhavi Merchant thrashing Salman Khan’s nomination for Best Choreographer; the award-nepotism was laid out bluntly.

Not everyone comes out being vocally strong while voicing their opinions. But some did celebrities did. Those who are questioning the authenticity of the Filmfare Awards, here’s what Sidharth Malhotra has to say about it.

In an interview with The Indian Express, Sidharth said that people take awards seriously the year they get them.

“There was a very interesting quote or something that Javed Saab said that you take awards seriously the year you get them. That’s the best philosophy to follow because it is something that happens at the end of the year.

He further adds that while it feels great to people are awarded but when they are not some of them they might not like it.

“I am happy these people are voicing what they feel like. I hope they are not doing for any other reason.”

Defending Filmfare, Sidharth points out why he thinks it maintains the authenticity,

“There is authenticity (in awards). If one takes winners of Filmfare, I wouldn’t disagree with the selection. Aamir Khan got for Dangal and the fact that he never attends any award but he was awarded because he gave an amazing performance speaks about the authenticity of the award. Alia (Bhatt) and Sonam (Kapoor) got the awards which were again well deserved. Then where is the question of not being authentic? I think it’s not fair to take names and point fingers. Also, Filmfare nominated Fawad (Khan), who wasn’t taken into consideration at most of the award ceremonies.”

He makes sense but does that change the fact that most of the award ceremonies in our country are rigged?
