Father-Son Duo Creates Fake ‘Magical Rice Puller’, Dupes Company Of ₹ 1.37 Crore

Mankind has evolved over the years in various ways for the betterment of the society. Simultaneously, anti-social elements like robbers and thieves have upped their game as well. They began by simply wearing a hood or a mask before entering someone’s house. In the digital age, the mask took the shape of fake ids. And now those cheats have taken things to a whole another level by introducing magic. No, I’m not talking about the next Doctor Strange movie. This is for real.

According to India Today, a father and son duo cheated a garment export company of ₹ 1.37 crore by convincing them to invest in a magical device. After they were arrested by the Delhi Crime Branch, Alok Kumar, joint commissioner of police, explained what they were selling.

“Cheats take a copper plate or utensil and coat it with liquid magnet and then fill some boiled rice with small iron wires and fool the victim by pulling the iron-clad rice grain with the magnetcoated copper article. The cheats further con the victim, saying that the object is a rare piece of copper, struck by thunderbolt in the hills of Uttarakhand, giving it power to pull rice.”

Apparently, the accused said that it’s an ancient device that is comprised of copper and iridium. Additionally, it has amazing abilities and will be used by agencies like NASA and ISRO. It even has a cool name: “rice-puller”.

Reportedly, the accused, Virender Mohan Brar and Nitin Brar, told the company that once the device is functional, they’ll sell it to NASA for a whopping ₹ 37, 500 crore. Kumar added that,

“The accused asked Narender (the company owner) to invest money for testing of the rice-puller and check its genuineness. This would be done by scientists and required the importing of some chemicals. If the test succeeded, ₹ 10 crore would be paid to the victim immediately.”

To make things more concrete, the accused made Narender sign a MoU with them under which the company would pay them in installments. Although there were some red flags as the father-son duo kept postponing the testing of the rice-puller, the garment exporters didn’t pay any heed to it.

“The complainant again entered into an MoU with the company and paid ₹ 5.6 lakh, ₹ 3.5 lakh and ₹ 42 lakh in installments for purchase of a special suit for scientists.”

However, Virender and Nitin’s gig was up once the accused go to know that the scientist was fake. Additionally, he was being paid ₹ 20,000 per month by the accused for his services.

Now, it’s beyond my knowledge that why would anybody need a device to pull rice. And why would anyone think NASA and ISRO would need a rice-puller? It’s certainly a relief that these people have been nabbed but we’ve to start being more smart. You’ve Google and Wikipedia in the palm of your hands. Use them to not get robbed of even one rupee, let alone ₹ 1.37 crores.
