If you are a woman, this question is for you: How many times have you had to fake a phone call during a taxi ride or on the street to make sure you’re safe? I know, tonnes of times!
As women, it is difficult not to feel unsafe while taking public transport, especially at night. Sometimes, either the driver is making uncomfortable gestures or the co-passengers are being handsy. The easiest way to deal with such situations is to fake a phone call and stress on things like being tracked online by a friend/parent or having someone waiting outside the door for you.
In order to make such phone calls more believable, people online are recording videos of fake phone calls so that others can use it during uncomfortable taxi rides, reports Hindustan Times. In most videos, the person recording says that they can view your location and can track you just in case. There is a ‘mom’ version, a boyfriend version, versions in different accents, etc.
Have a look! You can even use one of these when needed!

People on the internet are impressed by how the younger generation is coming together to help others escape unsafe situations. Yes, it is sad for such trends to even exist, but it is also heartwarming to see strangers coming to your aid.
It's tragic the we need these and use them, but it's awesome that teens are using this platform to keep friends, viewers and other women safe.

I’m loving this trend. I have my location shared with three people at all times for safety. Highly advise everyone not only pretend to have your location shared, but also have it shared for real. These videos are awesome. Gen Z kicks ass.

Only people who have experienced uncomfortable rides know how scary it can get. While there is a lot of work for us to do before we can guarantee a woman’s safety, such online trends definitely help!
