Emma, 2017’s Top Paid Actress Earns Less Than 14 MALE Actors Including SRK! Inequality, Much?

A woman, no matter how successful, consciously or unconsciously has to go through a lot of subjugation before she is termed an equal in a mix of sexes. While the differences are out in the open, the notion that breeds the differences is deep-rooted. And is dangerous to a society that aims at progress.

In today’s date and time, at the wake of development, people pretend or appear progressive but the disillusionment drops as soon as reality jumps to the fore, making for an exposé. While we are still talking about reality, the divide, unfortunately, exists in showbiz too.

Forbes has just released the full list of 2017’s highest paid actors and actresses, and the numbers are startling. According to the list, Emma Stone at rank 15, has emerged as the top paid actress who took home $26 million. 

Honestly, it is not surprising considering Emma won the Academy Award this year for her performance in ‘La La Land’ but what’s surprising is, the gender pay that persists in every ‘wood’ that makes movies.

And I say this because if Emma would have been a man, she wouldn’t even have made it to the top 10 with the net worth she has earned this year! That’s right.

 

While Emma is the highest paid actress, her counterpart is Mark Wahlberg of the fame ‘Deepwater Horizon’ who cashed in a whopping $68 million, almost thrice as much as Emma. He, incidentally, has topped the list. 

She was even outranked by her ‘La La Land’ co-star, Ryan Gosling with a $29M deep pocket.

 

In fact, Emma even at the top, has earned less than Bollywood biggies like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar who made $38 M, $37 M and  $35.5 M, respectively! 

Yes, the two Khans and the Khiladi have made it to the top and are standing tall at the 8th, 9th and 10th position.

Last year, Deepika Padukone, India’s only entry in the list of actresses, was on the 10th spot with $10 million but this year’s absence of any female actress sure goes to cement the discussion we were trying to have above!
