Ellen DeGeneres Slammed Online For Comparing Quarantine In Her Mansion To Being In Jail

Ellen DeGeneres, one of America’s top TV show hosts, has been people’s favourite for various reasons. Besides her comedy, she has been a strong voice for the LGBTQ+ community and animal rights and her admirable humanitarian efforts have made her widely loved.

‘The Ellen Show’ has been off the air for the past 3 weeks due to the coronavirus pandemic. Ellen DeGeneres too has subjected herself to self-quarantine. However, snippets of the show shot inside Ellen’s home are being released online.

In a recent video, Ellen DeGeneres joked about quarantine and compared it to being in jail, reports Hindustan Times.

“One thing that I’ve learned from being in quarantine is that people…this is like being in jail. It’s mostly because I’ve been wearing the same clothes for 10 days and everyone in here is gay,” said Ellen, laughing at her own joke.

According to a report by CNN, her joke faced severe backlash online, after which the video was deleted from her channel. Many called her “insensitive” for comparing quarantine in her 27 million USD (206 Cr INR approx) mansion to jail. Have a look at the reactions here:
