7 Cats Rescued From Mumbai Streets Flew To London To Live With Supermodel Elena Fernandes

Cases of dogs and cats being abused in different cities in India, sadly often come to light. Bollywood actors and animal activists do their best to appeal to people to show humanity towards the animals.

But the world still has people like supermodel Elena Fernandes who restore our faith in humanity. The model turned actress who was seen in Bollywood films like ‘Kapoor and Sons’, ‘Why Cheat India’ and ‘Badla’ was in the country for a year shooting for a series with Sony.

During her stay in Mumbai, Elena rescued 7 cats from the streets of Bandra, reports NDTV. She adopted the cats that were found in a miserable condition and named them Garfield, Murphy, Mischief, Sooty, Sweep, Disney, and Patches.

With the help of Furry Flyers, Elena decided to complete the formalities and take these rescued cats with her to her home in London.

“These cats, rescued over a year, were found in a poor state of health and some were injured on the streets. Now, I am happy to take them all with me to my central London home in Bayswater. Since my parents also live there, it will be easier to take care of all my adopted cats,” she told TOI.

Elena also said that she hates cruelty towards animals and believes that animals deserve kindness and care and not hate. She thanked British Airways and Customs officers for making arrangements for the cats before her flight to London.

Appreciating Elena’s effort, Vinayak Prabhu of Furry Flyers said, “Elena Fernandes is not just beautiful from the outside, she has a heart that beats with compassion for animals; which is very touching.”
