Diana Hayden Slams Tripura CM For Belittling Her, Says “I Am Proud Of My Brown Skin”

The Tripura CM, Biplab Deb has been all the social media rage since he made a rather ridiculous statement about the internet existing at the time of the Mahabharat. And no, if you thought that that was the only foot-in-mouth incident in store for this guy, you’re wrong.

Biplab Deb, while addressing people in Agartala, said that the former Miss World, Diana Hayden didn’t deserve the crown. He said,

“Indian beauty should ideally look like Goddesses Lakshmi and Saraswati. Diana Hayden did not deserve to win the Miss World crown.”

According to Times of India, he even went on to say that it was Aishwarya Rai who deserved to win because she was “quintessential Indian woman” and Diana was not. And her win was just a part of a plan hatched keeping international markets in mind.

However, Diana Hayden wasn’t one to take things lying down. In an interview with India Today she said that the CM’s statement shows his bias against women with brown skin.

She called out the racial discrimination he was ensuing with his statement and slammed him royally.

She said,

“We need to be proud of our skin (colour). God knows, it is appreciated all around the world. Everybody wants to have our skin colour. The last thing we need is our own people not appreciating it.”

Criticising the statement of Biplab Kumar Deb, Diana even said that “people in position need to think before they speak”.

It’s funny that we even have beauty standards for goddesses now, don’t you think?
