MS Dhoni, PV Sindhu And Gopichand To Be Conferred With ‘Padma Bhushan’ On Republic Day

2017 came up with a disappointing news for the fans of Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the southpaw decided to step down as India’s limited overs skipper. While we all are still coping up with the fact that MSD is not our captain anymore, there is some good news on the way.

Former captain of the Indian Cricket team, MS Dhoni will be awarded ‘Padma Bhushan’, India’s third largest civilian honour at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Republic Day.

Dhoni has earlier been awarded the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award’ in 2008 and ‘Padma Shri’ in 2009.

Apart from Dhoni, Olympic Silver Medalist PV Sindhu and Badminton coach Pullela Gopichand have also been cleared by the government for the prestigious award.

PV Sindhu became the youngest recipient of Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honour in 2015.

With more and more sports personalities being honoured every year, India is on the right path to emerge as a global superpower in sports.
