Back when we were in school, class 9 and class 10 were the years when a lot of youngsters were falling in love and getting into relationships. They would leave for tuition classes a little early or come back home a little late after class just to spend a few extra minutes with their partners. Phone calls were made on landlines when none of the parents were home and those who were lucky enough to have cell phones would recharge their numbers with an SMS pack that promised 100 free messages a day.
However, right before the board exams was the time when a lot of these couples would break up due to academic pressure. Because of the need to perform their best, they would avoid any kind of distractions that came their way, including romance and relationships. But amidst the pile of students who were breaking up were a few who held on and pushed each other to do better in their exams.
A user on X, @sehahaj, reminded people online how 10th graders would dump their BFs and GFs because boards were coming. To this, another user named Raghav responded by sharing his story of how he and his girlfriend would talk over a SIM card he purchased for her secretly because her parents were too strict. He also shared that while they spoke, they used to discuss important questions for the exams.
My gf & I in 10th Grade used to talk over a Sim Card I had given her because her Parents were too strict & got an itemized Bill so she used to insert this proxy SIM to talk to me & we used to discuss all important questions for the exams in our late night calls. She even pushed https://t.co/JSY7utieXR

me a lot. I often do think that I had 10/10 CGPA in 10th because she really used to push me hard to study harder.
Although we broke up 3 years after 10th & parted ways but I will always respect her for being a great friend and a motivator during that time.— Raghav (@raghavtwts) November 20, 2023
Reading his story, several others shared their own cute memories of going through the same when they were in school. Have a look:
I did this for my girl too. Even had to buy Nokia phones . I remember a 77 pack by @airtelindia which gave 10000 messages and we used to text in t9 language without seeing. Like during class or exams it was too much 😭😔

Now internet is unlimited, sms is unlimited, calls are unlimited. Love is limited. Friendship is limited, messages are limited, calls are non existent. Anything that is available in abundance has no worth. The times were different where you recharge with a scratch card. Old times.

I used to chat with an hacked wifi in winters when govt had shut down internet. Signal came in one particular corner. 🤣

I used to do a small vodafone recharge of 11 rupees which gave 100 msgs, that too on my brother’s phone because I was given an Airtel number by my mom. And even it used to end in 2-3 days. Those were the times 😂🫶
