Several parts of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have been ravaged by Cyclone Michaung, which formed over the Bay of Bengal and intensified into a cyclonic storm. Chennai, particularly, has been experiencing severe rainfall and flooding which have brought the city to a standstill. According to Moneycontrol, several people have been left stranded in their homes with no access to food, water or electricity.
Visuals of Chennai airport, railway station, bus stands, housing complexes and public places being scarily submerged have taken over social media with innumerable people crying for help. Cars and bikes are being taken away by floodwaters, which have also damaged several homes. According to India Today, rescue teams have been deployed in low-lying areas of Chennai from where people have been evacuated.
Here’s a look at some of the videos showing all that has been going down in Chennai because of Cyclone Michaung:
Understand this is Chennai airport today.
The sea seems to have taken it over.
And the most lowly paid staff in an airline typically are out braving it all. 👏👍#ChennaiRains pic.twitter.com/vJWNTmtTez

Hi Chennai!
The same old chennai with not a single improvement. This is happening every year & still no one cares about it. All they need is big apartments & for that they cut down the trees, demolish the lakes. Hence, the suffering!!!#CycloneMichuang #CycloneAlert pic.twitter.com/L0yo94nwBD— Bala Harish (@balaharish25) December 4, 2023

Chennai is a low-lying terrain with a lot of marshy lands & lakes. The real estate goons encroach them with all sorts of violations & come out with glitzy brochures with "Antilla" like features/amenities. When there's no proper drainage, disaster strikes. #ChennaiRains pic.twitter.com/FnSElTYmO9
