If you’re from Mumbai, I am sure you have traveled by the local train at least once in your life. And if you’re not from the city, you might have surely heard about this beloved lifeline of the city. The local trains truly represent the city’s enduring spirit as they make life so much easier for thousands of Mumbaikar who travel daily to work.
At the stroke of midnight on New Years, all the trains waiting at Mumbai’s iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) blew their air horns to mark the beginning of the year, reports Indian Express.

This special ritual is followed each year at the CSMT station. However, many people who take the local daily were surprised as they were unaware of this tradition.
Have a look at some of the comments:

Some people were also concerned about the noise pollution caused due to this action:
Someone should put a mute button on this tradition soon. Attitudes towards noisy and polluting celebrations are changing worldwide
— Krish Na (@IndigoKKing) January 1, 2020
Sounds like awful amount of noise pollution! A minute of silence will be more symbolic and less stressful
— SMitra (@SnehanshuMitra) January 1, 2020
It's sheer madness to create such noise pollution. Celebration, my foot !
— Canary in a coalmine (@OutroCanary) January 1, 2020
