Internet Is In Love With The Croatian President For Showing All What A True Leader Looks Like

Here’s a confession: I’m not even a football enthusiast, and I didn’t watch the World Cup Final. Still, if you asked me, I was rooting for Croatia, because who doesn’t love an underdog win? But my hate for major FOMO led me to Twitter, and what I found was that while France was taking home the much coveted FIFA World Cup trophy, it was Croatia who was taking home a rapidly expanding fanbase.

But the real winner of hearts and the Internet was the Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic.

The 50-year-old President of Croatia, who is also the first woman to hold this position in an Eastern European country, attended the World Cup Final in Russia. She was dressed in her team’s jersey and probably was the literal embodiment of the word ‘Cheer-Leader’!

What really caught the Internet’s fancy though, was how the Croatian President was the epitome of sportsman spirit, grace, and warmth as she cheered for her boys and hugged French President Emmanuel Macron!

Twitter was flooded with praise and love for the Croatian President, who supported her team through and through, comforted them in their loss, and still managed to keep her enthusiasm and that warm smile intact!

The loss, the rain, nothing deterred President Kolinda’s spirit! And the Internet LOVED her for it!

Both the playing teams’ Presidents got drenched in the rain but didn’t give a care!

It was probably because Putin getting an umbrella was a priority, but hey, look at them!

Unconventional, unfettered and full of spirit! Indeed!

One of the most touching visuals from the game were not goals being scored, but the Croation President comforting the captain of her national team, Luka Modric and wiping his tears!

You don’t need to be a fan of the game to understand the magnitude of emotions that these pictures evoke!

It was also quite heartwarming to see the French President hug Modric too! He was all grace as he interacted with the Croatian players and even their family!

Now here’s something that might make you love the Croatian President even more!

What’s more, unlike the usual protocol for world leaders to dress formally in the VIP box, she sported her team’s jersey with elan! She even took a pay cut for the days she wasn’t working but attending the matches!

And like I said before, I didn’t have to be a FIFA fanatic or frankly even watch the game to understand why the world was crushing on the president!

She is exactly what a leader should be: graceful, spirited, humble, and there for her people when they need her the most!

Plus she is a hugger! BONUS!

World leaders need to learn a thing or two from her!
