Karnataka Cop Abused And Fined A Cab Driver For Not Wearing A Helmet. Bravo, Common Sense!

Following traffic rules in an appropriate way is the need of the hour. With so many accidents claiming young lives, the traffic cops are expected to do their duty with due vigilance and that includes fining people for breaking traffic rules like not wearing a helmet. But, what if you are fined for not wearing a helmet while you are driving a car?

Sounds ridiculous right? Unfortunately, this ridiculous incident happened in real life when a traffic cop fined a cab driver for not wearing a helmet.

The incident occurred in Karnataka near Chenamma circle on October 7 when a cab driver, Naveen was on his way from the city to Gokul Road when he was stopped by a cop at around 10 pm.

As reported by India Today, Naveen showed his documents as well as his license to the cop and explained that he worked for a cab company, hence all his documents are legitimate, but the cop demanded he pay Rs 500.

When Naveen refused to pay the amount and questioned the cop, he started abusing him and gave him a proper challan of Rs 100, on grounds of not wearing a helmet with the car number.

So the next time, you gear up in your car to go somewhere in Karnataka, be sure to keep a helmet in the passenger seat, just in case. But on a serious note, it is rather shameful for a cop to misuse his authority to fine an innocent man while reckless drivers claim lives everyday.
