Attention Chennai! Clean You Dog’s Poop Or Pay A Fine Of Rs. ₹100

Admit it. While we all love our dogs immensely, cleaning their poop remains the most unwanted task for a dog parent. However, as far as the city of Chennai is concerned, that’s not going to work anymore!

The city’s civic body has come up with a new rule which asks the dog parents to be a bit more responsible when it comes to their dog’s poop!

According to the latest order, dog parents will have to pick up their dog’s poop and be extra cautious while taking them for walks. Failing to do so will see a fine of ₹ 100 imposed upon them.

As per a Times Now report, the decision has been taken after receiving a plethora of complaints regarding untreated dog poop, from morning walkers in the Basant Nagar locality.

Notices were also sent to several dog owners of the posh locality which were not taken seriously.

Speaking of the same to The News Minute, Antony Rubin, a Chennai based animal rights activist said that it is the duty of the owners to clear their dog’s litter and keep the streets clean.

“Dog owners should be held responsible for their dog’s litter. It is not rocket science to clean their poop. Most dogs are fed dry food these days, so their waste is not particularly hard to clean.”

“Besides, there is the public health hazard of leaving their poop to rot on the streets, and it is also a massive inconvenience to those who use the streets. We talk about Swachh Bharat, and it is such a big scheme in the country. So why can’t we do this simple thing to keep our streets clean.”

Well, the decision might not be appreciated by all but is a legit one keeping in mind our duties as responsible citizens of this country. Keep your city clean!
