Remember The Blue-eyed Chaiwala? Officials Claim He Is Not A Pakistani.

Remember the time when the internet (including you and me) couldn’t stop talking about the blue-eyed chaiwala, Arshad Khan from Pakistan? The same, could-make-your-heart-skip-beat guy who debuted with a photograph and went on to sign modelling/film contracts? What am I asking, of course, you do!

While It might sound like I am here for a drool-fest, I, on the contrary, come bearing shocking news. Turns out the world’s hottest chaiwala may not be a Pakistani! 

 

According to Pakistani news channel, Geo News, Arshad is not a native of Pakistan and is an Afghan national, instead. They claim to have received the information from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) sources.

They have accused Khan of using “fraudulent documents” to obtain a computerised national identity card which he further used to obtain a Pakistani passport.

The report also states that during the scrutiny of these documents several ‘red flags’ surfaced that goes to cement the claims. Not just that, there are claims that the staff at the passport office put his application on hold but Khan reportedly used his celebrity status to pressure the officials and a passport was issued to him.

 

Khan, however, denied he was an Afghan and told the channel that NADRA was misreporting the facts. He also cited pictures from his FB account where he can be seen receiving Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) at the NADRA Headquarters in Islamabad.

He told the channel that his father was born at Sargodha in Pakistani Punjab and that his family hailed from Mardan in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province. He also said he lives on the outskirts of Islamabad with his family.

But, even after repeated requests, he did not furnish any documents to corroborate his claims. In fact, in a rather interesting twist, the pictures of him receiving the card have now been deleted from Facebook! 

 

Meanwhile, Ambassador to Pakistan, Omar Zakhilwal, confirmed on Twitter that Arshad Khan was indeed an Afghan national.

What might this mean? We leave it for you to decide. Hopefully, time will be quick, to tell the truth.
