Punjab May No Longer Exist In ‘Udta Punjab’. Censor Board Bans State Reference In The Film.

Udta Punjab seems to be in the troubled waters yet again. The movie has a ban knocking at its doors, again.

The Censor Board Committee has asked the makers of the movie to put a ban on all the references to Punjab because of the upcoming elections.

Major objections have come from Punjab’s ruling Akali Dal led by Chief Minister, Parkash Singh Badal.

As if putting a ban on the references were not enough, the Revising Committee wants the film to be based on some fictional land and not Punjab and they have banned ‘Punjab’ from the title, making it just ‘Udta’.

The film focuses on the growing drug menace in the state, which the government resolves to fight.

Really? Udta anything BUT Punjab?

Dear Govt, the movie does not intend to blame Punjab in any way, but your imbecile ban makes no sense at all.
