Woman Contacts Model Whose Photo Was Used By A Creep To Woo Her Online. Now They are In Love.

There’s a thin line between real and online self. What we see online is not always real and what we experience in real is not always something we find on the internet. People make fake accounts on social media, identity theft is a common phenomenon and having unknown people following you is plain stalkerish.

Despite all of that, dating apps are hugely popular with our generation of people. But with the success of dating apps, comes the possibility of catfishing, i.e. fake dating profile to scam people seeking romance.

According to The Daily Mail, that’s exactly what happened with Emma Perrier, a 35-year-old woman who works as a restaurant manager and lives in Richmond, South-West London. It all began when she fell in love with ‘Ronnie’ (Ronaldo Scicluna), a good-looking model whom she met on dating site in 2015.

She asked Ronnie to FaceTime with her several times, but he waved it off saying “That’s just for teenagers”. He refused to meet her under the pretext that his job keeps him travelling all the time and whatever free time he does have, he spends it with his parents in Spain.

He helped her with her problems and she really thought she was ‘in love’ with him. She said,

“It sounds crazy, I know, but I actually thought I did love him. He sent me 300 photographs and we spoke several times a day, messaging one another between times.”

After everyone in her life suggested caution for her, finally, Emma decided to do some snooping and with the help of technology, she found out that the man who called himself Ronnie was actually Adam Guzel, a model from Turkey.

Even after confronting him more than once, Ronnie refused her accusations. One day, he sent her an image he took at an aquarium. After a bit of more snooping and the same technology, she found the image traced back to a TripAdvisor user review by Alan Stanley.

Turns out, ‘Ronnie’ was actually Alan Stanley, a 55-year-old divorcé who used a fake profile on the dating site to woo women like Emma. Heartbroken and devastated, she cried to her sister about it.

To stop him from hurting anyone else, she contacted Adam Guzel, whose photos he had used, to warn him that this man was using his identity falsely. Now is when things start getting better for Emma.

Adam generally doesn’t respond to such messaged because he received a lot of them. But after hearing what Alan did to Emma, he was furious and they started talking. Emma asked him to FaceTime with her and he readily agreed.

On seeing his face, the face of the man she thought she was in love with, she broke down into tears and cried.

“You’re so real. You actually exist.”

There was an instant spark between the two and Adam, decided to visit her. He was earlier living in Manchester where he attended drama school. On 1st April 2017, Emma went to Heathrow Airport to receive him and her happiness knew no bounds. They have been inseparable ever since.

Since Adam is a resident of Turkey, which is a non-EU country, he cannot work in the UK. They haven’t figured out what the future holds but for now, they’re in love and they’re going to figure it out as they go.
