Actor Bobby Deol, who was a heart-throb for many in the 90s, has been missing in action for quite some time now. However, while the ‘Bichhoo’ actor did make a comeback with ‘Race 3‘ in 2018, it was hardly anything in comparison to his brilliant performances from back in the day. So, what went wrong?
In a recent interview, Bobby opened up about a rough phase in his career where he had started pitying himself. He was quoted saying by HT, “When you pity yourself, you will start cursing the world around you. That is what happened to me for two-three years.”
“I started pitying myself and thought that no one wants to work with me so I relied on alcohol. I started numbing myself and then one day I realized where I was wrong when I saw it in my kids’ eyes that our father stays home all day long.”
The father of two mentioned how he saw the same emotion in his mother and wife’s eyes too. That is when he decided to bring about a positive change in his life. He added, “I realized that if I want to move forward, I cannot wait for someone else to do it, I will have to walk myself. That is when I started working on myself and I have been so busy in the last two-three years.”
He even said that actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan also go through struggles, but it’s their never-say-die attitude that pulls them through. Shedding light on the ongoing insider-outsider debate in B-town, Bobby said, “There’s no such thing as backing in the industry. Just because my family is from the industry does not mean they have backed me when it comes to working.”
“If that was the case, I would have starred in big films all along. Of course, I am very blessed to be Dharmendra’s son, but I only worked with him in the first film, after that, all the offers that I received or all the films that I did were on the basis of my performances.”
Well, Bobby sure is an amazing actor and we’re glad he pulled himself out of the rut. After all, we would love to see ‘Gupt’ actor work his magic again on the big screen! How about you? Tell us!
