Last year, the ‘Bihar topper scam‘ exposed the horrible state of education in the eastern state and shook the entire nation. While no Indian state can claim brilliance when it comes to government educational institutes, Bihar seems to be the frontrunner in everything that is wrong with the education sector of India.
After Bihar Staff Selection Commission used a topless picture of an actress in the admit card of a girl, a public university in Bihar has stepped up the goof-up game.
94 students of the Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) in Bihar were unable to sit for the last paper of their second semester postgraduate Hindi exam because the university forgot to print the question paper. Yeah, that happened.
Following the incident, Dr Nalini Kant Jha, Vice Chancellor of the university has now issued a show-cause notice to the Controller of Examination and the head of Hindi postgraduation department.
However, quoting the CoE, sources say that he didn’t receive the question papers to start the printing process.
Blaming the goof-up on the ‘choice-based credit system’ (CBCS), Ashok Thakur, the head of the department of Hindi, said,
Doesn’t matter who was responsible for the mistake, ultimately it is the students that suffer.
On a lighter note, if the university was trying to snatch Oscar’s title for the biggest goof-up of the year, they’ll have to do something much worse.
