Ben Affleck Pens Powerful FB Post On His Alcohol Addiction And How He Countered It

He may have played an invincible superhero in a movie who can take down villains in one go and thrash his opponents left, right and centre but in real life, he is as human as any one of us.

I am talking about Ben Affleck. The eminent Hollywood actor-director who has starred in movies like ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, ‘Good Will Hunting’ and ‘Gone Baby Gone’, has been a victim of alcohol abuse. The actor spent some time in rehab for his problem in the year 2001 and has shared a similar story recently.

On Tuesday, Ben Affleck took to Facebook to write about his fight against alcohol addiction. In the post, he mentioned the support of his family and friends and how this is the first step towards an alcoholism-free future for him.

Here’s what the actor wrote:

I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step. I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery.

With actors living under the constant scrutiny of the media and their fans, it is important that they set a positive example for others to follow. Affleck’s FB post is certainly a great step forward, for him and for his followers too.
