Arvind Kejriwal has done it again! He has given yet another person a chance to take an epic dig at a ‘controversial’ statement by him, and this time it’s none other than the DCP of North Delhi – Madhur Verma.
In a previous interview, the Chief Minister of Delhi ended up addressing the Delhi Police as ‘Thullas’.
For those of you who don’t know, a ‘thulla‘ is an offensive and derogatory term used for cops, the origin of which is controversial but mostly assumed to be from the ‘Uttar Pradesh-Bihar’ area.
Immediately after the interview, Delhi Police Commissioner, B.K. Bassi had expressed his dislike for the CM’s insensitivity and blatant use of the word to address cops.
And soon after Madhur Verma tweeted this:
One of our so called ‘Thu**a’ who rescued 4 yr old Khushbu from Kamla Nagar & reunited with her mother!! pic.twitter.com/mad7fBnjJ2

The district police chief specifically asked other cops to address each other as ‘thullas’. Why, you ask? To rub it in Arvind Kejriwal’s face of course.
Senior Superintendent of police Dharmendra Singh said, “The word has also hurt our sentiments, being policemen. Police is an organisation which cannot express dissatisfaction by staging protests or dharna (sit-in), etc. So, we have asked our men not to feel discouraged, but address each other with the term ‘thulla’. We told them to take the word in their stride and not feel let down.”
Well done, North Delhi police. We should all take lessons on ‘how-to-give-serious-burns-101’ from you guys.
