BCCI Declared Anil Kumble As The Coach Of Indian Cricket Team And The Internet Rejoiced!

Indian cricket team has found a new coach.

It’s a matter of immense pride that Anil Kumble, fondly known as ‘Jumbo’, has been appointed as the new coach of Indian cricket team by BCCI.

10 candidates were interviewed for the post of senior Indian national cricket team coach by Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) which consisted of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, and VVS Laxman.

Anil Kumble was in the pole position to land this position and only the official confirmation was awaited.

BCCI president Anurag Thakur says,

“India deserves the best, and Kumble is the best.”

 

While we are really ecstatic about this news, Anil Kumble highly deserves this post. Prior to this, he has mentored 2 IPL franchises – Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

He has a long list of achievements in his kitty. After taking 619 wickets in test cricket and 300 wickets in One-day Internationals, he is the third highest wicket-taker. His incredible quality to make the ball bounce made him a tough bowler in front of many batsmen.

In fact, he is the 2nd fastest Indian bowler to reach 100 test wickets in 21 test matches and  2nd highest wicket taker among leg spinners in Test cricket.

He has been honoured with Arjuna and Padma Shri awards from the Government of India in the year 1995 and 2005 respectively.
