Amitabh Bachchan recently wrote a heartfelt letter to his granddaughters Aaradhya and Navya Naveli.
He read the letter in a video and the video went viral, amassing over 2 million hits in just a day.
T 2370 – I write a letter to my grand daughters, Navya Naveli & Aaradhya .. indeed to all grand daughters .. !! https://t.co/2WvixNLLYh

But there was a section of people on the Internet that called the whole things a sham and shameless promotion for his next movie – Pink.
To update you, Pink has strong women as central characters.
Some even called the letter regressive and patriarchal.

#ABLetter explained: Drag your Bahu to temples, marry her off to a tree to correct Mangalik Dosh and then teach feminism to her daughters.

In Amitabh Bachchan's honest letter to granddaughters, it's the paternal family that matters.

Nice patriarchy-tinged letter, Mr Bachchan. For starters, your granddaughters carry the legacy of their grandmothers too.

maybe you should have started by apologising for having your daughter in law marry a tree and then take it from there.

Don't understand why #AmitabhBachchan wrote a public letter to his Grandchildren to tell them not to care about the public. #ABLetter

Twitter, Facebook, and the social media, in general, are very scrutinizing and unforgiving, even to a 73-year-old legend.
Was the letter a promotion for a movie? Or was it a sincere letter with patriarchal undertones?
Only Big B knows.
