We all enjoy shopping! While there’s no greater joy than buying discounted products, free samples always make me happier. Well, they have the same effect on me that the free sukha puri has after a plate of paid gol gappas. You know exactly what I am talking about, don’t you?

As concerned neighbors checked upon each other, they realized a total of 18 families were affected by the situation. Upon inspection, they came to the conclusion that the problem might have been caused due to the excise department’s recent operation.

It all started 6 years ago when excise officials seized alcohol from a bar named “Rachana”, located near the residence. The bar was charged with unlawfully storing 6,000 liters of liquor, reports News18. After the case proceedings, the officials were asked to destroy the illegal booze.

But how do you destroy 6,000 liters of liquor?

Well, the excise officials came up with a unique solution. As the liquor was taken from the bar, they dug a pit on the same land. It then took them almost 6 hours to empty one bottle after another in the pit. However, they were unaware that the well of the Solomon’s Avenue Flat was located nearby.

Slowly the alcohol seeped through the soil got mixed with the water in the well of the nearby property. This alcohol mixed water was then pumped into the tank of the flats, triggering the issue.

Troubled by the goof-up the residents have approached the Chalakudy municipal secretary and health department. They have sought action against the excise officials. A probe has now begun into the issue.

We just hope that all the residents including the kids and elderly of society are safe.
