Akshay Kumar’s Sister Tells Why Her Brother Never Said ‘I Will Protect You’ On Raksha Bandhan

Apart from pulling your hair, rating you out in front of your parents, or just trying WWE moves on you; BROTHERS have stood by your side all through your life. They have been your just-a-call-away-superheros.

Now that we’ve established that brothers make the world a better place, here’s something you should know about a doting brother who grew-up to take care of her younger sister and gave her a lesson that every girl should hear.

Talking lovingly about her brother Raju, is Akshay Kumar’s beautiful sister, Alka Bhatia. Speaking about how Akshay was the only one who made her lose her temper, she said,

 

As she was his younger sister, their parents would expect Akshay to go everywhere with her, to protect her. But Akshay would always ask her to protect herself. She said,

 

Akshay and Alka were young when they lost their father. She said that slowly, Akshay slipped into the role of the head of the family. But he never really stopped believing, “aapna dhyaan khud hi rakhna hai.”

And she realised the importance of what her brother had told her when her daughter, Simar, was going to America to study. Worried, her daughter asked, “Mumma, manage kar lungi na?” To which Alka replied,

Akshay’s message to the world is pretty simple. While brothers are always there by your side, girls/woman shouldn’t need rescuing. Dear girls, you’ve got your brother…but most of all you’ve got yourself. Pledge this Rakshabandhan that you’ll take better care of yourself!
