Hailing from a town called Goalpara in Assam, Adil Hussain has come a really long way in a short career span. The ex-National School of Drama student and teacher forayed into Bollywood a few years ago and ever since then, there’s no turning back. I mean come on, it takes some special kind of skill to do almost 55 films in like seven years. Don’t you think?
The ace actor, who got noticed for his exceptional work in the world of theatre, has made roles memorable because he essayed them. Adding a touch of himself to them yet being a complete character chameleon, Adil is a powerhouse of talent.
The 53-year-old has acted in English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, Norwegian and French films and there’s just no stopping him.
Adil may have caught our eyes from his work in Bollywood, but before that too he has done some mighty-impressive work in TV and Theatre. And, we should thank Theatre for gifting us such a phenomenal star. Here are ten roles portrayed by Adil that are simply too good.
1. With his Bollywood debut only he left us damn impressed.
2. This was his second film and had a meatier role than Ishqiya.
3. His was a small-yet-pivotal role.
4. He made us hate him but we ended up falling in love with him as an actor. Didn’t we?
5. Whenever he’s on-screen he’s so effortless. And, this is proof!
6. While the film might’ve not worked wonders at the box office, his acting skills were lauded for.
7. One role that best suits him is that of a cop and this gem of a film proves that, yet again.
8. The National Award winning film is high-on-acting and it’s just a film that would stay with you.
9. The film has toured film festivals and Adil has yet again proven his acting chops in it.
10. A thriller with quality acting is what this film is and Adil just bettered it with his presence.
There are more. These are just a few of his roles.
In my humble opinion, the fact that he does roles or chooses characters which are closer to his age makes the characterisation believable and is something we as audiences should see more of.
