In the 90s and early 2000s, Indian dance and music reality shows spiced up our family dinners. These shows brought lively tunes and energetic moves into our living rooms, making dinner time a lively affair. Families huddled around the TV, sharing laughs and claps as contestants grooved to the beats. It was a perfect blend of tradition and modern beats, creating a fun atmosphere that made those evenings unforgettable.
However, nowadays, reality television shows are different. Between verbal abuse shown in Bigg Boss to inappropriate moves shown in dance competitions lies a generation who find it difficult to watch Indian television with their families at dinner time. Claps have turned to awkward silences and quick channel changes. Here’s an example.
In a dance reality show where Remo D’Souza and Shakti Mohan serve as judges, Nora Fatehi was seen performing a dance number which can be called vulgar and inappropriate for kids to watch. In a video that’s gone viral, we see her twerking and pouring water over her body as the camera focuses on her backside in slow motion.
People have been slamming the channels that are promoting this kind of content. Here’s a look at what they have been saying:
The lure of TRP made the makers forget the basic fact that a lot of families with kids sit together to watch these shows at dinner time 🤧pic.twitter.com/DnWpBCPpcm

Gone are the days which promoted real talent like SaReGaMaPa, shows like Surbhi, Circus, Nukkad, Buniyaad, comedy shows like Jaspal Bhatti
Kahan hai woh Bharat? Moreover, the expression of Remo Fernandes looks so weird 🙄 https://t.co/NPUkt50tJQ

Neither I like Nora by looks (surgeries) nor her dance style. Horny, kinky, vulgar, cheap…even if it's in theatres with A certificate, it's not pleasant to the eyes. TV is for family…it should be refrained from all this cheapness. Nauseating sight for the eyes 🤮 https://t.co/cZN2Li6yO8

Even underage children are being sexualized in the name of art in Indian television. If this is so then why is child marriage a crime in this country? Legal kar do bhai. https://t.co/z84S5qAzll
