Waking up to absolutely bizarre trends on Twitter has become a part of my daily routine, and my half-asleep brain always struggles to make sense of where it came from. Glad to know that others were left equally confused too when it came to the new viral ‘#Binod’ memes.

So here’s the deal. As per a report in Hindustan Times, it all started with a popular YouTube channel Slayy Point’s video titled “Why Indian Comments Section is Garbage (BINOD)’. It was a commentary on how a lot of the comments they get under their videos are quite banal and meaningless. One comment by a man called Binod Tharu, which simply said ‘Binod’, ended up catching the eye of Desi Twitter and how.
Soon it turned into a viral trend, where people simply started commenting ‘Binod’ completely randomly across all social media platforms. Soon enough, countless memes have started flooding in.
News18 reports how seeing the trend, one Twitter user @GabbbarSingh asked Paytm to change their official Twitter handle to Binod. And they agreed! See their confirmation tweet below:-
DAMN! #binod
