Before lockdown protocols were relaxed, liquor shops across the country remained shut for a period of 40 days. And vendors who violated the norms had their alcohol seized by the cops.
According to Telangana Today, II Town police station in Karimnagar seized liquor bottles from such violators and kept them in the police station. However, on May 4, 69 bottles went missing.
The Times of India reports that senior officials checked the CCTV footage and within 4 hours discovered that the people responsible were the station’s own – constable Arun and his accomplice driver Rana.
Criminal cases have been filed and both of them have been sent to judicial custody. We hope that departmental action is initiated against the constable soon. Crimes committed by the upholders of law shouldn’t go unpunished.
