“For now, we have registered an offense against the woman under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of Rs50) of the Indian Penal Code and the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act,” Rohit Divate, the sub-inspector of Hinjewadi police station, told TOI.
The person whose car the woman had damaged filed a complaint against her at the police station. While narrating the incident he said, “I was sleeping in my flat when the watchman woke me up around 5.30am on Tuesday to inform me that the woman had caused extensive damage to my car.”
“The watchman saw the woman repeatedly ramming my car with her sports utility vehicle (SUV),” the complainant said. “The watchman tried to confront the woman, but she started hurling abuses at him. He then rushed inside the society to wake me up,” he added.
The woman then drove away from the scene. “But I saw my car in a highly damaged condition,” he said.
The watchman of the society too gave his statement on the incident. “I saw the woman repeatedly moving her SUV back and forth to ram the car. She did that at least 10 times. She kept pushing the car away from where it originally was and finally pushed it near a tree,” he said.
After filing a complaint with the police, the damaged car owner reached the accused woman’s home to confront her with the cops. But she allegedly hurled expletives at them and threatened to de-robe herself and damage the other two cars owned by the complainant.
“The woman started threatening us against entering her house She told us that if we wanted, we could damage her two cars parked outside,” the complainant said.
“Her husband later came out and told us that he would pay for the damage caused to my vehicle. I am still wondering why she committed the act,” he added.
