One of the most iconic art pieces Leonardo Da Vinci ever created is the ‘Vitruvian Man’. If you’re unfamiliar with the name, perhaps you recognize the image below! Ever the Renaissance Man, Da Vinci is best known as a prolific artist and innovator. Little did he imagine, even in death, that one day, a condominium in Mumbai would mar his artwork with modern briefs!
Before we show you the blasphemous censorship, take a peek at the original ‘Vitruvian Man’ in all his glory.
The drawing in question is a study on “the proportions of the human body according to Vitruvius.” Etched in ink on paper, it clearly portrays a man in two superimposed positions. The man’s his arms and legs are apart and inscribed in a circle and square.
Naturally, he is devoid of clothing in this sketch. However, a condominium building in Mumbai sought to rectify this. And how!
See for yourself!

While we can’t say we’re fans of nudity, we do appreciate art in its authenticity. Well, so do a spate of fellow countrymen who took to Twitter to jest and jeer at this comical censoring attempt!
Some wished he wore branded briefs rather than a local langoti!
They didn't respect the vitruvian man, shd hv given a branded underwear instead of this local langoti…

We’re sure glad Michelangelo’s masterpiece David isn’t in town. Or they’d have a field day dressing that uber-nude Renaissance sculpture!
