Come what may, Shashi Tharoor will speak his mind. That’s the way it has always been and by the looks of it, he won’t be changing it anytime soon. The man with the intensive knowledge about Indian history has often been a worthy representative of the nation at International events. In fact, it was only recently that his narration of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre at an event, moved an Englishman to pass him an apology note.
However, as big an advocate as he is for India, he doesn’t refrain from calling out issues that aren’t right or up to the par. And he recently pointed out one such matter.
He recently paid a visit to the Malaysian Parliament and just like every Indian visitor on a foreign trip ever, made sure to post pictures on social media.
Apart from the touristy pictures, he also posted pictures of the amenities inside the Parliament, and they look quite impressive tbh.
Look at that intricate interior works!
And here’s a closer look at the individual workstations of the ministers:
Fancy, isn’t it?
Tharoor definitely seems to think so. He expressed his envy of their facilities via this tweet:
Visited the Malaysian Parliament &entered the empty chamber of the Lower House. Felt a pang of envy: Each MP has their own nameplate, plush leather swivel chair, laptop&mike. We in the LokSabha sit crammed on benches w/no leg room to stand, let alone swivel. Time for an upgrade! pic.twitter.com/mfhjEpsqe7

He couldn’t help but make a comparison with our Lok Sabha:
“Each MP has their own nameplate, plush leather swivel chair, laptop&mike. We in the LokSabha sit crammed on benches with no leg room to stand, let alone swivel. Time for an upgrade!”
Looks like our ministers aren’t being provided sufficient leg space. I wonder if the poor amenities are why many of them have been caught sleeping mid parliamentary sessions. It could also explain why many of them don’t even bother to show up after winning a seat. If a swivel chair and nameplate can get them to be more active, just get them those already!
