Me too: two words which ordinary when said separately but together they represent a revolution. Yes, the spark that lit Hollywood’s backyard on fire slowly became so much more. Towards the end of last year, we saw a social media revolt. A revolt against abuse, against assault and against keeping mum about it.
Today women are naming and shaming their abusers. And you know what the horrifying part is that women from all over, from every walk of life, strong, independent, dependent are facing harassment or have at some point or the other.
In appalling news today, Pakistani singer and artist, Meesha Shafi has alleged that musician Ali Zafar sexually harassed her. Opening up about this horrific experience she took to Twitter and said,
“Today, I speak up because my conscience does not allow me to be silent anymore.”
She said that she feels that if she as an established artist can go through something like this, then what about young women hoping to make their mark in the industry.
Talking about the harrowing tale the actor-singer continued saying,
She also said that in a closed societies women keep silent and are made to suffer alone. However, it is now time to speak up against this abuse.

Today, Meesha took the step to break the silence and speak about this trauma that she’s had to go through.
