Dev Shah is a class 3 student at Dhirubhai Ambani International. But he is different from the rest.
Last week, the youngest Indian to become a rated chess player won a silver medal after finishing as the runner-up at the FIDE World Youth & Cadets Chess Championship in Greece.
Disappointed after losing to Bharath Subramaniyam, the ardent Viswanathan Anand fan said this to TOI:
‘My goal was to try and finish in the top three. I had won six out six when I played him in round seven and he was half a point behind. But I blundered.’
As an eight-year-old kid, when children of his age are playing with dolls and cars, Dev is an exception and dreaming big.
Let’s hope he keeps on beating opponents, because he’s one hell of a talent India can be proud of. 🙂
