As I am growing older, I’ve realized I’ve become incredibly nostalgic over my childhood.
And then, there’s no denying the feeling of pure joy you go through when you hear a few chords of a Backstreet Boys song, or when a Linkin Park track “happens” to come on shuffle.
Although the 1990s and early 2000s were the golden age of one-hit wonders, let’s take a moment to remember some of the era’s most famous hits and the artists/bands we actually listened to during our childhood.
If you never heard of them at some point during your school days, you probably didn’t go to school.
Here is a list of 30 bands in no particular order that we all grew up listening to. So, take a trip down the memory lane if you are in a good place to do so.

9. Venga Boys: The Dutch dance-pop group that ‘Like To Party’
10. Westlife: The Irish boy band that made us feel happy with meaningful songs
11. Creed: The band which left us with ‘One Last Breath’
12. Mariah Carey: The artist who is famous for her five-octave vocal range
13. System of a Down: Some of the craziest yet most intriguing songs known to us
14. Bon Jovi: The band which taught us ‘It’s my Life’
15. Oasis: The most influential band in UK and Europe in the 90s
16. Aersomith: The best-selling American rock band of all time
17. Foo Fighters: One of the rock world’s most iconic bands
18. Ricky Martin: The sex symbol of music
19. Enrique: Totally ‘Addicted’
20. Limp Bizkit: The band ‘Behind Blue Eyes’
21. Nickelback: The band that had a playlist for every emotion
22. The Cranberries: Zombie, zombie, zombie-e-e-e
23. Madonna: Not only a pop singer but a songwriter, actress, and businesswoman
24. Shakira: The best-selling song of the 21st century, “Hips Don’t Lie”
25. Coldplay: Chris Martin and some of your favourite songs
26. Rihanna: In between the chaos created by many artists, she kept the flame of music burning
27. Metallica: One of the greatest ever heavy metal bands
28. Guns N Roses: Impressions like this band can never be replaced
29. Spice Girls: They had the moves, the personalities, and great songs
30. Linkin Park: One of the 1990s most recognizable groups
While this list brings back both good and bad memories for you, you can take comfort in knowing that your music tastes have matured greatly since.
