Media Site Mistakenly Puts A Digvijay-Amrita Leaked Image Tweet In Selfie-With-Daughter Article

Media houses, known for their in-depth research and crisp reporting don’t often make mistakes, but when they do it becomes the news of the hour, especially when it’s a big media house like New York Times.

In an article titled – “#SelfieWithDaughter campaign launched by Indian Prime Minister Modi a smash hit”, the New York Times (Women In The World) apparently made a blunder by posting a tweet mocking the relationship of Indian politician Digvijay Singh and noted journalist Amrita Rai. The tweet contained a photograph leaked last year which went viral along with some other photographs of the couple.

The photograph was uploaded as a prank by a twitter user under the hashtag #SelfieWithDaughter with a tag line that read ‘Okay Diggy raja mistook #SelfieWithDaughter for selfie with daughter-aged GF…ROFL.’

Apparently, NYT didn’t get the joke and decided to post the tweet along with some other “regular” selfies of fathers and daughters including a detailed report on Prime Minister’s initiative to promote equal rights for the girl child.

The controversial image has been removed by the New York Times and they have also posted an apology statement for their mistake.
