Way before Google and Gmail took over the internet, Yahoo used to rule the world. From assisting us to navigate through towns to helping us connect with friends, it was our go-to web service provider. But not anymore!
Yahoo on Monday notified its users that it will shut down Yahoo Groups website on December 15, 2020, reported The Hindu.

Putting an end to the 20-year-old legacy, the company took the decision pertaining to the decline in the usage over the last several years. However, over that same period, they witnessed “unprecedented levels of engagement across our properties as customers seek out premium, trustworthy content.”
But sadly, “Beginning December 15, 2020, the Yahoo Groups website will shut down and members will no longer be able to send or receive emails from Yahoo Groups,” the company added.
People online were heartbroken on hearing the news. Some also mentioned how Yahoo bidding us adieu was an end of an era.
Youths of today wont realise what yahoo was back then. Its like an end of an era kinda thing.

I got the email that #YahooGroups is shutting down and I’m wishing that someone kept all the archive of Cloudmakers, by far the most fascinating #Yahoo group I was in. #endofanera

Like us, many were also eager to know if this means Yahoo Mail would also cease to exist.
Does this mean yahoo mail IDs will stop functioning and people who use yahoo mail IDs need to switch over to may be gmail
