India Crowned Overall Champion At South Asian Games 2016 With Record Breaking 308 Medals

India’s regional supremacy remained intact in the South Asian Games 2016 after our county won the overall championship for the 12th consecutive time in a row.

With a record breaking 308 medals, India won the South Asian Games 2016 in Shillong on Tuesday.

The total medal count was:

  • Gold Medals – 188
  • Silver Medals – 90
  • Bronze Medals – 30

 

Sri Lanka bagged the 2nd place with a total of 186 medals and Pakistan got the 3rd place with 106 medals. This is the final medal tall by the end of the 11-day long event.

Women boxers M C Mary Kom, L Sarita Devi and Pooja Rani won gold medals in all their respective weight categories.
