Several star kids including Alia Bhatt have been receiving backlash ever since SSR’s death re-ignited the debate on nepotism. However, while actors like Sonam Kapoor responded to their trollers, others chose to restrict their comments on social media.
Speaking of which, Alia’s mother Soni Razdan has reacted to the online outrage against her daughter, reports News18. Soni said that the people who are ranting about the issue today are the same people who will support their children if they decide to join the film industry in the future.
Soni was replying to a tweet by director Hansal Mehta. The film director was calling for a broadening of the “nepotism debate.” He mentioned how his son will only get work because of his own merit and not because of his father’s connection.
This nepotism debate must be broadened. Merit counts most. My son got a step in the door because of me. And why not. But he's been an integral part of my best work because he is talented, disciplined, hardworking and shares similar values as me. Not just because he's my son.

Replying to the thread, Soni said that star kids have to live up to a lot of expectations, reports Hindustan Times. She also questioned whether such people won’t support their kids in the future.
The expectation that people have because of whose son or daughter you are is much more. Also thise who r ranting about nepotism today and who have made it on their own will also have kids one day. And what if they want to join the industry? Will they stop them from doing so ?

Hansal replied and said that bullying should be called out and not talent. Irrespective of how you enter the industry, talent should always thrive. What do you think? Tell us!
