Shabana Azmi Called ‘Poha’ As ‘Upma’ And Twitter Corrected Her By Making Similar Mistakes!

Appearances can often be deceptive. What we see, is not what we always get. Sometimes, we don’t realise what is right in front of us.

*sigh*

If you’re wondering why we are piling these “aesop’s fables” type statements on you, blame Shabana Azmi. The actress, who is currently holidaying in Italy, made a teensy-weensy inconsequential little mistake on social media. But social media being the cruel mistress that it is, just wouldn’t let it go.

Yesterday afternoon, Shabana Azmi tweeted a picture of her breakfast in Florence, and Twitter was convinced that she’d named the dish wrong.

You see it, right? What she calls as “Upma,” Twitterati believes to be “Poha”!

Now, like we mentioned above, appearances can often be deceptive. So it could be either of the two. Here’s a zoomed in picture for you to ponder over at length and decide for yourself.

Irrespective of what the veteran actor or you think this dish is, there have already been some hilarious reactions to the tweet! The Tweeple have come up with some really creative ways to let the actress know the error of her ways.

1. Ande ka funda!

2. Mhari chhori chhore se kam hai ke?

3. Will be cast in Chak De 2.0, starring Coach Alok Nath!

5. Dilli, je t’aime!

6. Mo…Mo…Mo…Mo…Modak!

7. Staple food of all Indians travelling abroad!

8. Close enough!

9. Shabana Azmi: Is it too late now to say poha?

10. Left a bunch of confused Gujjus there!

11. Worth trying at a Masterchef audition, no?

12. Poha is Upma is Poha. Geddit?

13. To be fair, they’re both made from pretty much the same batter!

14. Maggi = Every hostel’s biryani!

15. Ah! But of course, there is dessert!

This is all fun and jokes. But what we’re concerned with is that according to the tweet, the dish was made on Shabanaji’s demand. So wait, did she ask for poha or upma? Or worse, was she told it was upma but fed poha instead?

Guess this is one mystery only the great Sherlock Holmes can solve!
