Like, recently the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) busted a peculiar currency smuggling attempt at Indira Gandhi International Airport. The security personnel at the Delhi airport intercepted a passenger as he was behaving suspiciously. Murad Ali, 25 was stopped when he reached Terminal-3 to board a flight to Dubai, reports News18. The CISF found currency notes hidden in cooked meat pieces, peanuts and sealed biscuit packets from the passenger’s personal belongings. They seized Rs 45 lakh worth of foreign currency. More than five hundred notes including an assortment of Saudi Riyal, Qatari Riyal, Kuwaiti Dinar, Omani Riyal and Euro were recovered from the eatables.

“On physical checking of the passengers’ baggage, high volume of foreign currencies were found concealed in cooked mutton pieces, peanuts, biscuit packets and other eatables,” CISF spokesperson Assistant Inspector General Hemendra Singh was quoted saying by Hindustan Times.

They also unzipped sealed biscuit packets to reveal more foreign currency:

And, they even dug into oily meat pieces:

The passenger, a resident of Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, told officials that he was carrying the food items in his bag on behalf of someone else. The CISF authorities suspect that the man is a courier for smuggling out currency as he has traveled to many foreign locations in the past.

The suspect along with the seized currency has now been handed over to Customs authorities.
