Kerala Govt’s Gender Budget Cover Page Is A Thoughtful Painting By A Class 9 Student

Recently, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented India’s Union Budget for 2020. While the nation tried to understand the new tax slabs, many people shared their thoughts about the new income tax regime.

Now after the country’s budget allocation, Thomas Isaac, Kerala’s finance minister has presented the state’s budget for the year 2020-21. His report included a slew of welfare measures, reports Times of India. While the minister was announcing his budget, Anujatha, a class 9 student from Thrissur was prepping for his examination.

However, the schoolboy was unaware that the finance minister had mentioned his painting titled ‘My Mother and Mothers in the Neighbourhood’ while speaking about the allocation for women empowerment. Reportedly, his painting was selected as the cover page of the Gender Budget document of the Government of Kerala.

His father Vinaylal was overjoyed on receiving the good news. “What I am most proud of is its theme. He drew that painting when he was 10, yet it conveys a great message. We used to tell him about the efforts taken by his mum and all mothers around him in nurturing their children,” he was quoted saying by The New Indian Express.

Anujath who has now risen to fame was inspired by his mother to start painting. However, she passed away due to ill-health in November last year. The young boy and his family haven’t recovered from her untimely demise.

The talented boy hopes to pursue his passion professionally after he completes his study. All the best to the young lad and we hope all his dreams come true.
