People across the world have been taking necessary precautions to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus. Several hospitals across the globe have also restricted visitors inside the campus to protect their patients and employees from COVID-19. But that didn’t stop this husband from supporting his wife during her chemotherapy.
Albert Conner from Chesterfield, Virginia is being extra careful ever since his wife, Kelly Conner was diagnosed with stage-II breast cancer, two months ago. However, he’s also making sure that he doesn’t break his promise made to his wife. “I promised her I’d be there for every step. I didn’t want to break my word,” he said reported The Indian Express.
Hence, he came up with a plan to support his wife from outside the hospital premises he wasn’t allowed into due to COVID-19 restrictions. He only had two choices, either stay at home or wait for Kelly outside the building until she’s done.
Without thinking much, Albert drove into a separate van, following Kelly to the medical centre where she was scheduled for her second chemotherapy session, said reports. Although he wasn’t sure if Kelly would be able to see him, he still parked outside the centre, pulled out his chair and sat there with a poster board that read, “I can’t be with you, but I am here, love you!” He also thanked the staff in the placard.
Luckily, Kelly noticed his cute gesture from the second-floor room during her treatment, the hospital said on its website. Kelly said:
“I suspected he was up to something. He’d talked about driving over and just sitting in the car. I told him not to, that I’d be fine. But that didn’t make the gesture any less sweet. I felt so much love for him at that moment.”
She further said, “Your mental and emotional health is just as important as your physical health when you’re going through treatment. Just having someone with you who knows how hard it is and can sympathize is so important.”
She also shared pictures of his gesture on her Facebook account that went viral in a jiffy.

Albert understands that the restrictions are to protect the nurses and all the patients in there. “I’ve made my peace with that because the coronavirus is going around. I’d rather be inside with Kelly, but at least I can still chat with her on the phone.”
However, he doesn’t plan to continue sitting outside the centre during Kelly’s future appointments. But he hopes that the pandemic is over by the time she is cured of the disease and they can celebrate together.
