1,000 People Queue Up To Adopt Baby ‘India’ Who Was Found In A Plastic Bag & Left To Die

Cases of abandoned newborn babies found in dumpsters aren’t unheard of. We come across news of babies being left to die every day because the parents wouldn’t take responsibility owing to perhaps poverty, social stigma, or because the pregnancy was unplanned. Most of these babies eventually die. However, some are very lucky to be rescued. And baby ‘India’ was one of the lucky ones.

On June 6th, an abandoned baby was rescued by police officials in Georgia. The newborn baby was found tied inside a plastic packet with her umbilical cord still uncut, left to die. According to sources, a neighbour called authorities when he heard a baby crying nearby.

An officer located the bag, opened it and found the baby, still smudged in blood. They nicknamed her India. She was taken to the hospital and doctors said that she was unharmed and healthy. She was then shifted to child services and after a few weeks, she was “smiling” and “thriving”.

Footage of the rescue mission was released on social media and the video is heartbreaking!

As the video went viral and newspaper headlines flooded with her name, more than 1,000 people requested to adopt little India!

“We have people waiting in line to provide that child with a forever home”, said Tom Rawlings, the director of Georgia’s Division of Family and Children Services.

The police department later went on to post a reminder on social media about the state’s childcare policy saying that if the mother doesn’t want the baby, she has an option other than abandoning it.

Baby India is a beautiful miracle child and we hope she gets a loving home soon!
