Andy Murray Shot Back At A Sexist Reporter Even When He Was Being Praised For His Gold

Andy Murray.

This man has shown enduring patience to win in almost every tournament and stay humble. That’s probably why he is so lovable. He recently won his second Olympic gold and this instance is going to shine through the pages of the history of sports but not just for his sheer talent but his personality as well.

Andy Murray when being interviewed by BBC Reporter, John Inverdale who remarked that Murray might be the only one yet to win two Olympic golds for tennis, came out in support of his female counterparts, Venus and Serena Williams’ achievements.

He said,

“Well, to defend the singles title … I think Venus and Serena [Williams] have won about four each but hadn’t defended a singles title before.”

Even after this brutal shot at the reporter, Murray’s politeness didn’t leave him.

“I mean it’s obviously not an easy thing to do. I had to fight unbelievably hard to get it tonight as well. Yeah, I’ll enjoy this one.”

He realized there is something wrong with the world when he saw the badgering his coach, Amelie Mauresmo faced for his defeats which none of his male coaches ever had to experience.

“Have I become a feminist? Well, if being a feminist is about fighting so that a woman is treated like a man then yes, I suppose I have.”

If Andy is a feminist, you should be too. 😀
