For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted a pet dog of my own. Alas, I’ve never had the chance to have a furry friend who I could spoil rotten. I see them on my friends’ Instagram posts and a tiny pang of jealousy hits me every single time. Why? Because they all get to experience the kind of unconditional love you can’t find anywhere else, and I don’t. These four-legged pupperinos are known as man’s best friend for a reason, after all. And I don’t have that best friend yet.
But this one time, I’m glad 3-year-old Remy had one. Because he literally saved her life.
3-year-old Remy Elliot was reported missing from around 8.30 on Thursday night.
According to KVFC, the toddler’s parents, aided by a massive team of police personnel and volunteers spent over 12 hours searching for her.
The girl had wandered off into an immense cornfield next to their house, with her 1-year-old dog in tow.
Thankfully, Remi and her Yorkshire Terrier, ‘Fat Heath’ were found on Friday night, about half a mile from their house.
Her parents were ecstatic to find her safe, other than some mosquito bites and are immensely grateful to Fat Heath for having stuck by her side all through the night.
Look at that good boi!
The Missouri State Highway Patrol, shared the incident on their Twitter last night and Tweeple can’t stop calling Heath a hero.
This is what #Community looks like. Law enforcement, 1st Responders and community volunteers coming together to find a missing child. Her dog stayed by her side all night. #StrongerTogether pic.twitter.com/aIDMtG6JTW

Sigh. I am so very glad that little Remy had her best friend by her side through what must’ve been a very stressful night. Having Fat Heath there helped her not be scared, she says in an interview and my heart just cries ugly tears. Good boi, Heath!
