It’s often disheartening for cricket fans to see their favorite team lose a match. However, while it’s okay to feel sad over not winning, it’s totally unacceptable to personally attack the players for the loss. Recently, taking things to the extreme, a 16-year-old boy from Kutch district in Gujarat allegedly issued threats against Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s minor daughter after his team Chennai Super Kings (CSK)’s defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), reports Times Now.

The class 12 student was detained by the cops for reportedly issuing rape threats to Dhoni’s daughter on his wife Sakshi Dhoni’s social media account. He was picked up by the Gujarat police after they received a tip-off from the Ranchi police who had registered a case in the matter. Kutch (West) superintendent of police Saurabh Singh was quoted saying by Mid-Day,

“The Class 12 student from Namna Kapaya village was detained for questioning in connection with a disgusting threat message that was posted on the Instagram account of Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Dhoni a few days back.”

Ranchi police had shared information regarding the teenager’s account with the Gujarat police and asked them to confirm if it was he, who had posted the threat message. The teenager reportedly confessed to having posted the threatening message on Instagram after the match between KKR and CSK during IPL 2020. Singh added,

“We detained him for questioning after Ranchi police informed us that the accused hails from Mundra in Kutch district. We have confirmed that the boy is the same who had posted the message. He will be handed over to Ranchi police as the FIR was lodged in that city.”

The Ranchi police will now take the 16-year-old into custody for further questioning in the matter. Further action will be taken as per the Juvenile Justice Act in the case.

The disgusting incident led to an outrage on social media:

It is distressing to see a child getting threatened in our country. We hope justice is served soon in this matter.
