With a monstrous physique, aggressive eyes, fire in his belly, and of course, the ability to smash the cricket ball effortlessly, Yuvraj Singh has been one of the most precious jewels in Indian cricket history. In an illustrious career that gained momentum with the Natwest final in 2002 and weathered down post-India’s historic World Cup triumph in 2011, the Punjabi power-hitter has given us numerous moments to fall in love with him.
However, one of the biggest highlights of his dominance came in 2007, when Yuvraj destroyed English pacer Stuart Broad, by hammering 6 consecutive sixes off him. Gosh, Kingsmead, Durban had witnessed the fastest 50 in T20 history which came of just 12 deliveries.
Not only did he hit cricket balls for sixes but Yuvi did the same to cancer when he was diagnosed with the deadly disease in 2011. What a fighter.
As the iconic left-hander turns 37 today, the world of cricket paid tribute to the maestro with a perfect mix of nostalgia and good wishes.
A plethora of tweets came from his colleagues and ex-cricketers.
