When our cricketers are on the pitch we see some stellar teamwork and camaraderie between them. However, are we to see the same level of friendship off the pitch as we see on it? Yuvraj Singh’s recent interview with Radio Mirchi may say otherwise.

When speaking about Virat Kohli handling his own money, Yuvraj Singh did not hold back. Yuvraj went on to say that the captain of the Indian Test Team was too particular about his money.

This is what Yuvraj had to say,

“I don’t how to explain. It’s like this is yours and this is mine, you will pay for this one and I will pay for that one. You know, in our Punjabi culture, we don’t have that, if we are going out, then one person pays but some people are different and currently, Virat Kohli is the biggest miser. So, every time we go out, it’s me always paying and I have to force him to give the money.”

When speaking about Ashish Nehra, he brought up his generosity however, the sarcasm was evident.

“Usually Ashish is very generous but he gets miserable at times. When he got married, he used to say, please try to understand, I have to manage my wife and kids, I cannot spend much.”

Even senior cricketers were not spared from Yuvraj’s banter. “Among the senior players Javagal Srinath was very generous. After playing so much of cricket with him, he finally gave us a dal chawal treat.”

To top it all, the team even uploaded a picture on twitter with the caption “thank you Srinath Ji, for the treat after 15 years.”

Yuvraj did clarify that all of his comments about his current and former teammates were in jest and need not be taken seriously.
